Frequently asked questions
What is in this henna mix? +
This is a herbal hair-care blend containing Rajasthani henna as the base, combined with amla (Indian gooseberry powder), bhringraj (Eclipta alba), and curry leaf. The mix is designed for scalp conditioning, hair nourishment, and natural hair colour. No synthetic dyes, PPD, or chemical additives.
How do I prepare and apply this henna mix? +
Mix the required quantity with strong tea water to form a smooth paste, add 1 teaspoon lemon juice, and let it soak for 3-4 hours (use an iron or non-metal bowl). Apply evenly to hair section by section, ensuring full coverage from roots. Leave on for 1.5-2 hours, then rinse with water (no shampoo immediately).
What colour will my hair turn? +
Natural henna gives a reddish-brown to copper colour. The exact shade depends on your starting hair colour, the quality of the henna, the soaking time, and how long the paste sits on your hair. Grey hair takes a brighter copper; dark hair shows a subtle red sheen in sunlight. Repeat applications deepen the colour over time.
How is this different from chemical hair colour? +
Chemical hair colours use compounds like PPD (paraphenylenediamine) and ammonia, which penetrate the hair shaft and can cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Henna coats the outside of the hair shaft naturally without altering its internal structure. It also does not lighten hair — only deepens or tints.
Can I use this if I have chemically coloured hair? +
Mixed results. Henna is generally compatible with hair that has been previously coloured naturally, but can react unpredictably with chemically dyed or recently bleached hair — sometimes producing green or unexpected tones. Strand-test before applying to your full head. Wait at least 4-6 weeks after a chemical colour before using henna.
