Our Process

Our Process

At Woodified Natura, cold-pressed oil doesn't begin at the machine. It begins with how we prepare the seed.

Every seed that enters our unit carries traces of its journey โ€” soil, sun, harvest, and handling. Our job before pressing is simple: remove what doesn't belong, without disturbing what's already inside.

Not all seeds are treated the same

One of the biggest misconceptions in oil making is that all seeds can be processed alike. They can't, and they shouldn't be.

Some seeds need washing. Some need double cleaning. All of them need attention.

Washing where it matters

Seeds such as groundnut and coconut (copra) often carry surface residue that dry cleaning alone won't remove. These are washed with clean water and then dried carefully to the right moisture level.

This step affects oil aroma, stability, and quality โ€” long before pressing begins.

Double cleaning for small and fine seeds

Smaller seeds demand more precision. Sesame, mustard, niger, flax, and sunflower go through a two-stage cleaning process.

The first pass removes visible impurities. The second removes fine dust and micro-grit that isn't always visible but affects oil clarity and taste.

This is what lets the press run smoothly, with lower friction and more consistent results.

Moisture conditioning: a quiet but critical step

After washing or cleaning, seeds rest and stabilise. Excess moisture affects shelf stability; overly dry seeds increase friction during pressing.

We condition seeds to a balanced moisture level so the oil releases gently, without stressing the seed.

Cold pressing without external heat

Only once seeds are ready do they go into the cold press. Oil is extracted using slow mechanical pressure, without external heat or chemical solvents.

The oil flows naturally, retaining its aroma, flavour, and character.

Why seed preparation matters

Many oils are marketed as cold-pressed. Few mention what happens before the press.

Cold pressing cannot correct careless seed preparation.

Washing where it's needed, double cleaning where it's required, and respecting moisture levels โ€” these are what produce clean, stable oil. The press just finishes the job.

From our floor to your kitchen

What reaches your kitchen isn't just oil โ€” it's the result of discipline and attention to raw ingredients before a single drop is extracted. That's our process at Woodified Natura.
