Frequently asked questions
Where does Woodified source the copra for this coconut oil? +
We source sulphur-free copra (sun-dried coconut kernel) from chosen farms across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The choice of region matters: coconuts from these states have a higher oil yield and richer flavour than commercial copra. No sulphur preservatives are used at any stage.
Why does this coconut oil solidify in winter? +
Coconut oil is naturally solid below approximately 24°C. This is a property of its saturated fat profile, not a quality issue. Place the bottle in warm water for a few minutes to liquefy when needed. Both solid and liquid forms are equally usable.
Can I use this for both cooking and skin/hair? +
Yes. This is a single oil with both edible and cosmetic uses. It is FSSAI-certified for consumption (cooking, baking, oil pulling) and can also be used for hair conditioning, skin moisturising, and Ayurvedic abhyanga massage. The same purity and unrefined quality serves both purposes.
How does cold-pressed coconut oil differ from refined coconut oil? +
Refined coconut oil is bleached, deodorised, and processed at high heat — losing its aroma, lauric acid, and antioxidants. Cold-pressed coconut oil retains the natural coconut fragrance, lauric acid, vitamin E, and antioxidants. The trade-off is shorter shelf life (6 months vs 12+ for refined).
How long will this oil last after opening? +
6 months from packing date when stored in a cool, dark place with the cap tight. The natural lauric acid and antioxidants help resist rancidity. Refrigeration is not required and may cause solidification. The pack carries a visible best-before date.
