Our Process

Before the Oil Flows, the Seeds Speak

A transparent look at how seeds are washed, cleaned, conditioned, and cold-pressed at Woodified Natura — because good oil begins long before extraction.

At Woodified Natura, cold-pressed oil does not begin at the machine. It begins with how we prepare and respect our seeds.

Every seed that enters our unit carries traces of its journey — soil, sun, harvest, and handling. Our role is simple: remove what does not belong, without disturbing what nature has put inside.

Not All Seeds Are Treated the Same

One of the biggest misconceptions in oil making is that all seeds can be processed alike. They cannot — and they should not.

Some seeds require washing. Some require double cleaning. All require patience and attention.

Washing Where It Matters

Seeds such as groundnut and coconut (copra) often carry surface residues that dry cleaning alone cannot remove. These seeds are therefore washed with clean water and then dried carefully to the right moisture level.

This step supports better oil aroma, stability, and overall quality — long before cold pressing begins.

Double Cleaning for Small & Fine Seeds

Smaller seeds demand greater precision. Seeds like sesame, mustard, niger, flax, and sunflower go through a two-stage cleaning process.

The first cleaning removes visible impurities. The second removes fine dust and micro-grit that may not be visible but can affect oil clarity and taste.

This approach allows the cold press to operate smoothly, with lower friction and better consistency.

Moisture Conditioning: A Quiet but Critical Step

After washing or cleaning, seeds are allowed to rest and stabilise. Excess moisture can affect shelf stability, while overly dry seeds can increase friction during pressing.

We condition seeds to a balanced moisture level to support gentle oil release without stressing the seed.

Cold Pressing Without External Heat

Only once the seeds are ready do they enter the cold press. The oil is extracted using slow mechanical pressure, without external heat or chemical solvents.

The oil flows naturally, retaining its inherent aroma, flavour, and characteristics.

Why Seed Preparation Matters

Many oils are marketed as cold-pressed. Few talk about what happens before the press.

Cold pressing cannot correct careless seed preparation.

Washing where needed, double cleaning when required, and respecting moisture levels are essential to producing clean, stable oil.

From Our Floor to Your Kitchen

What reaches your kitchen is not just oil — it is the result of discipline, restraint, and respect for raw ingredients. That is our process at Woodified Natura.
